God's Got it Goin' On!

Ain't it funny how God decides to show Himself at certain times in our lives? This current adventure in wonderland started in December 2009 in a way I would not have predicted? Results - yet to be determined. Suffice it say that if someone sat down over a latte to tell me a story like this....well, I would have been skeptical. Things like this just don't happen....right? Well, they do when you're a child of the Most High King. Afterall, He told us in Jeremiah 29:11 that He has plans for us...big ones!

For now, I'll begin in media res with the heightened awareness of God's desire for His kids to function in the prophetic for His glory. Afterall, prophesy is the one gift that His word tell us to covet ("Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues." I Corinthians 14:39). Honestly, never had an awareness of that scripture until recently. God does have a sense of humor!

I'll be back to tell you a story or two or three. Until then, I wonder what He's gonna do next...

Bodybuilding Life

The question that enters the mind these days is, "Do I really want to do this?" All the vivid memories of measuring food, resisting natural urges to eat even a teaspoon of natural peanut butter, and dreaming of ranch dressing (with the fat included) flood the mind. Afterall, training for a competition is nothing more than discipline and self-denial of phenomenal proportions. Not sure what my answer is today. Believe it's a resounding maybe! Not good.

Monday was back and bicep day. Love those days. Felt the burn. Felt energized. Even had steam left for some decent ab work. Favorite back exercises? Close grip rows. Feel strong with that move. Biceps? Well, I love it all - especially at the end after the N.O. Xplode has helped flood the muscle. Skin even gets tight without flexing. Oooh, that's cool!

Tonight was leg night. Got a little too crazy with the warm-up cardio and depleted my tiny store of glycogen. Yep, tiny. Tiny because Miss Melissa decided not to eat enough today. Ugh! Who does that on leg day. Weakness showed in the leg press, but the smith machine squats were the bomb! Love leg day - love it more when I've fueled properly throughout the day.

Importance of Pets

"A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself." - Josh Billings.

Aah, the great vastness of a "true truth" (a phrase coined by my friend, the late Ford Maune). Kurtis, my amazing schnauzer, illustrates this quote with his little doggie life. Even after being locked up in the house all day, he is always thrilled to see me. At least, the jumping, wagging, barking, running willy-nilly, and jumping in mid-air could be interpreted that way.

Novel Speak

Looking forward to a great week of literary bonding with my students. 'Tis a pure delight to moderate their Socratic approach to deconstructing classic lit. Never ceases to amaze me that 16 and 17-year-old students have such profound insights after such a limited existence on this swiftly twirling planet.

Not sure which is a more dystopian novel, 1984 or Sister Carrie. Perhaps the current readers in my junior and senior classes should get together for a town-hall meeting on such quandries. Could be a life-changing discussion.
